On Valentine’s day 2023, Aotearoa’s north island was hit by one of the worst natural disasters in its history. This year, together we can spread the love to those worst affected by the cyclone, whilst also taking part in an epic bikepacking adventure.

Bike cyclist in New Zealand Aotearoa Hawkes Bay

Tour Aroha is Aotearoa’s newest cycling event – bikepacking brevet. It is also a chance for cyclists of all abilities to challenge themselves for a good cause. Every penny raised by the tour goes directly to the communities that were worst hit by cyclone Gabrielle. Every km cycled will create awesome memories.

With options for everyone, from the seasoned cyclist, to the beginner biker, to the supporter on the sofa, everyone can get involved. So what are you waiting for? Join the ride!

The 700km Brevet

Starting and ending in Masterton in the beautiful Wairarapa, the Tour Aroha brevet route winds a mighty 700km loop out to Napier and back, on backroads, tracks and cycleways. The tour encompasses some of NZs best cycle routes: the Tararua traverse, the Manawatu cycleway, the Omatane trail, the Gentle Annie route and Route 52. Along the way, riders will pass by NZ icons such as the giant kiwi, the giant gumboot, beautiful art-deco Napier, and the longest place name in the world!
